Resistance Conversion Unit - Electronics Testing

The Resistance Conversion Unit, in conjunction with the TA.XTplus/TA.HDplus Texture Analyser's multi-channel data acquisition capability, enables the characterisation of electro-mechanical products by measuring and analysing force-distance and resistance-distance characteristics co-incidentally.

Any of the texture analyser range can be used for the product tests listed below.

A selection of special attachments and typical measurements which are commonly used in this application area are shown above. However, this does not show the complete range of attachments available for the testing of electronic products. Test procedures include: compression, puncture/penetration, tension, fracture/bending, extrusion, cutting/shearing.

Typical applications include:

  • Measurement of the peel strength of printed circuit board track

  • The force required to pull components from a printed circuit board
  • Strength of crimp joints
  • The push button and membrane micro-switch where the measurement of the change of resistance during depression is measured. 
  • The characterisation of a conductive gasket as it is compressed to measure the force required to reduce its electrical resistance so that it forms an effective RF seal.

Application Studies are available for the testing of electronic products using the TA.XT2i, TA.XTplus, TA.XTExpress  or TA.HDplus texture analysers.

In addition, scientific papers have been published which reference the use of the TA.XT2i/TA.XTplus/
TA.HDplus in the testing of electronic products.
