Upgrade your old instrument to the new Connect specification
Plus instruments can be upgraded to the new Exponent Connect specification – bringing added connectivity, control flexibility and data capture capability to your existing instrument.
Owners of a Plus models now have the opportunity to upgrade their instrument to the new Exponent Connect specification, gaining access to a range of new features while protecting the capital investment of their original purchase.
The upgrade path provides greater connectivity for the instrument, a feature increasingly expected of modern electronic equipment. Owners of multiple instruments will be able to network their Texture Analysers, enabling remote set-up and data collection via Ethernet. Following the upgrade, users will have several ways to operate their Texture Analyser:
Using a Control Panel: This allows the Texture Analyser to be operated in a stand-alone mode, providing a rapid and straightforward means of setting up and performing tests. Basic results, including a summary test curve after each test, can be viewed directly. Test files can be stored within the instrument and uploaded to Exponent Connect or a USB data stick when convenient.
Using a Web Browser Interface on a phone, tablet or laptop: Where the instrument is connected to Ethernet, this provides a convenient way to operate the Texture Analyser. Tests can be set up and run from a PC or mobile device of choice, as the Browser Interface is not specific to any mobile operating system. Test data can be downloaded and saved directly to the network from this interface, and multiple Texture Analysers can be set up and controlled from a single device.
Using Exponent Connect software: This remains the most feature-rich texture analysis option available, now with the ability to capture test data at 2000 points per second, at variable rates throughout a test. This higher acquisition rate detects up to four times as many force changes per second as the existing 500pps rate, making it well suited to applications involving high-rate fracture, such as crispiness, or high-speed events, such as the measurement of adhesives or brittle samples.
Standard engineering calculations have also been built into the software, enabling the quick calculation of specific moduli, stresses, strains, strengths and energies – particularly suited to materials testing applications.
This upgrade represents a further step forward in texture analysis and product property characterisation, extending the capability of an existing instrument through the latest connectivity and data acquisition options.
