Custom design service
We can design an attachment to suit your specific testing requirements.
Despite the hundreds of probes, attachments and testing accessories we have developed over the years we understand that many testing requirements need a bespoke solution. This is not surprising given the accelerated development of new and exciting materials, medical devices, 3D printing applications and alternative foods.
The development of new sample/material formats, shapes and finishes that do not conform with the testing of standard materials using standard testing methods means that new and innovative approaches to testing are required. This is where the Stable Micro Systems development team excels.
Unlike other materials testing equipment manufacturers, Stable Micro Systems are able to take your sample and testing requirement brief and provide a customised solution that provides successful support and testing of your sample. With the aid of our 3D printing and CNC machining facilities, our in-house design and manufacturing team can develop precisely what you need to test your product using one of our instruments.
At the outset our distributors and local sales teams will discuss your testing objectives with you and help you create a brief that articulates to us necessary details such as:
• Sample size
• Sample shape
• The property(ies) that you are trying to measure
• The limitations of your sample materials (e.g. rigidity, fragility)
• The testing materials or surface finish requirements that are necessary to your property testing.
To achieve accurate test results, it's important that your sample is gripped or supported correctly. The provision of a sample of the material you wish to test is always preferred so that our development team can appreciate any subtle complexities that need to be considered for the designed fixture. We can then progress to the provision of a drawing and quotation of our proposed solution for you to consider.
Example bespoke attachments
Here are a selection of custom design projects we have delivered.
Brief: (Left) Design an attachment to support a wide range of glass vial sizes to enable a compression ‘crack’ test to be performed.
(Right) Provide a means of supporting a specific plastic bottle in order to perform repeated ‘open-close’ tests that exercises the cap ‘hinge’ integrity with continued use.
Brief: (Left) Design a Gum Crunch Audio test. Support multiple chewing gum sticks arranged around a Reference Acoustic Envelope Detector so that the ‘crunch’ of their candy coating can be measured.
(Right) Design a means of supporting plastic caps in order to allow a ‘ring pull’ test to be performed which would measure the strength of moulded plastic cap lids.
Brief: (Left) Manufacture a device that allows the standard method CEN/TR 16792 to be performed. This device would allow a button strength ‘pull’ test which pulls a high strength cord through the holes in a button to test the strength of the button.
(Right) Support a deodorant stick housing to enable a lid removal test to be performed to check the integrity of its assembly.
