Temperature and humidity measurement

Controlling and measuring temperature and humidity for texture analysis

Peltier Cabinet and controller

There are many products that are ‘temperature critical’ and which need testing at a specific non-ambient temperature or range of temperatures to provide reproducible comparative texture analysis results.

Such information is far more relevant than ambient testing alone can ever achieve.

Samples such as gels, confectionery, waxes and high fat or oil content products are very temperature critical and as such careful equilibrating and stabilising of testing temperature should be considered.

Stable Micro Systems solve these temperature associated problems by offering a range of temperature control solutions to suit various temperature range and testing dimension requirements.

Exponent Connect software is integrated to the Stable Micro Systems temperature control products so that temperature can be changed quickly but more importantly, displayed in real time alongside the texture analysis plot.

Thermal Cabinets

Thermal Cabinets

TC/LN2 for the TA.XTplusC Texture Analyser
TCHD/LN2 for the TA.HDplusC Texture Analyser

Thermal Cabinets with liquid nitrogen cooling and electric heating (-40°C to +180°C) solve the problems usually associated with the testing of hot and cold products such as molten cheese, ice cream, adhesives or waxes.

Samples can be allowed to equilibrate to the required temperature before testing is performed within the cabinet.

Humidity Temperature Module

Temperature and Humidity Module

XT/HTM

This provides the facility to capture temperature and humidity data (sampled every 10 seconds) during a test.

This product meets EN50082-2 EMC requirements and has a measuring range of 1 to 100% RH (relative humidity) and -30°C to +105°C. Accuracy is ±0.4°C and ±2.5%RH from 5% to 95% RH at 23°C.

PT100 Temperature Probe

Temperature Probe

XT/PR

The Temperature Probe plugs directly into the PT100 connector on the Texture Analyser and gives direct measurement over the temperature range -50°C to +250°C.

Two probes can be connected via the PT100 ports to log data simultaneously from separate locations.

Peltier Temperature Controllers

When used in conjunction with the TA.XTplusC or TA.HDplusC Texture Analyser, the Temperature Controlled Peltier Cabinet and Temperature Controlled Peltier Plate provide a highly stable and accurate testing environment for many products.

The Plate or Cabinet is coupled to a separate Peltier Control Unit (PCU) which can be conveniently located so that the required temperature is easily set and displayed or placed away from the Texture Analyser if space is at a premium.

Peltier Plate

Temperature Controlled Peltier Plate

XT/PP

The Peltier Plate provides a stable surface temperature for testing small or thin products such as pressure sensitive adhesives or films. This ensures that temperature effects are either minimised or are able to be accurately investigated.

The surface dimensions are 110mm x 100mm and maximum operating temperature is +80°C to a minimum of 30°C below ambient.

Peltier Cabinet

Temperature Controlled Peltier Cabinet

XT/PC

The Peltier Cabinet provides a temperature controlled environment using PID control with an operating range from +80°C to 20°C below ambient.

It is fixed directly to the base of the texture analyser via nylon insulating pillars that provide a thermal barrier from the instrument.

Samples can be allowed to equilibrate to the required temperature before testing is performed within the cabinet.
